IN THEIR OWN WORDS: WHY NOT ME?

Why Not Me

By Simone Jackson

I’m on the cusp of my final season of collegiate soccer and it’s all starting to sink in. This is it. It’s been such an amazing few years, I almost don’t want to leave. But it’s time. I’ve made my mark, and now, for one more year, I’ll put on that cardinal and gold kit and enjoy every moment of it.

I want to help my teammates see everything that USC has to offer, on and off the field. I took advantage of a lot of things, a lot of things that aren’t always part of the stereotypical student-athlete experience and I hope my teammates are just as excited to do the same.

From international business trips to Thailand, Indonesia, Cuba and Spain, to completing my first screenplay, I've embraced every opportunity to grow academically, professionally and personally.

With the unwavering support of my family, teammates and coaches, I've learned that anything is possible with hard work, dedication and a,"Why Not Me?" mentality. As I look ahead to my future goals of playing soccer professionally and competing in the 2028 Olympics, I'm determined to make the most of every moment in my final year as a Trojan.

How blessed am I to have attended my dream school that quite literally has helped turn my dreams to reality?

BRINGING TROJAN BRANDS TO LIFE

THE LATEST FROM TROY

  • In her most recent address to the Trojan Family, Athletic Director Jen Cohen, shared an update on critical focus areas for the department, including NIL and addressed the progress House of Victory has made:

"Our partnership with House of Victory, the Official Collective of USC Athletics, has never been stronger, and we truly believe no collective in the country has enhanced its profile, operations and results more in the past year than HOV. For the 2023-2024 academic year, HOV exceeded all its fundraising goals, and our donors stepped up to help us more than double our total funds from the previous year, putting USC in the upper tier of NIL collective support nationally”.
